St Peter’s pupils enjoy fabulous festive fun

Cheeky elves have been out in force at St Peter’s CE Juniors in Broadstairs.

Children were astounded to find the festive rascals had moved all of the chairs out of classroom 5L and gift-wrapped anything they could find in class 6G.

Their other antics included making lots of Christmas trees out of the chairs and books, playing with all the speed stacking cups and decorating the classroom with toilet roll.

It was all part of the school’s big festive fun time that included an array of activities that guaranteed huge smiles from all year groups.

Year 3 children were praised for their creativity and dedication in rehearsing and performing The Big Little Nativity by Mark, Helen and Naomi Johnson to families.

Meanwhile the Umbrella Theatre team visited to perform a lively interactive version of the classic panto Cinderella with three performances ensuring the whole school could enjoy the show.

National Christmas Jumper Day saw hundreds of brightly coloured woolly tops on show, while each class revelled in their own festive party with children bringing in plenty of food to share, together with lots of seasonal fun and games.

A traditional Christmas dinner was enjoyed by children and staff thanks to sterling efforts by the kitchen team, with festive music and crackers to keep the party atmosphere going.

Pupils took part in the annual St Peter’s Christmas Tree Festival and their decorated tree at the village church won runner up in the junior section judged by Broadstairs and St Peter’s mayor Cllr Kristian Bright. Art Club members created the eco-decorations that celebrated this year’s theme ‘Joy to the World’.

The whole school also walked to the village church, led readings, prayers and enjoyed singing carols, including a Year 3 performance of Good News from their recent nativity. In the service, Rev Matt Hodder talked about the difference the children can make to those families and individuals who are struggling in life, particularly at this time of year.

Head Teacher Tim Whitehouse said: “We have enjoyed a fantastic range of festive events across the school and at our local church – radiating the spirit of fun and togetherness.

“Big thanks go to everyone who helped make this such a joyous time for us all. It has been a lovely way to finish a very happy and successful term.”
